If you are curious about the ocean and have never glided over a coral reef, or swam through a school of tropical fish, run away to the tropics and take a diving course. It will change your life, I guarantee it. If however you lack the means or you are trapped in a frozen winter desert, as I currently find myself, do yourself a huge favour and do the next best thing - go and see the new IMAX movie
Deep Sea 3D. This movie experience is absolutely sublime. It is hard to come up with a way to describe it. I think my mouth was getting sore towards the end from the constant grin on my face. The three dimensional filming places the subjects right in front of your face - rather than looking up at the huge screen, all the action seemed to be taking place about five feet in front of me. There was a point near the start when the camera was moving slowly through a cloud of jellyfish and they seemed to be flying all around us in the theater. Highly recommended - easily the best IMAX movie I've ever seen. (Too bad however that they only pay lip service to the looming ecological crisis in the oceans).
